There are many people that I meet each day. I finally realized that I do remember only those that look me in the eyes. They "dare" to do it. Most of the people finally are not able to ask what they want, so, they speak with their voice but not the feelings. There are many things that you can of course achieve with the voice, but nothing without feelings. Don't et wrong the word. Feeling is the way you ask, the way you express your need of success (I take as granted that you have this need).
You are in an interview. You have in front of you, your potential employer. How do you look at that person? Do you express that you will be a valuable "tool" in that business model or someone that just need a job for the money. It depends of course, of what you want. But I trust you want something more!
I was a kid, admiring my grandfather for his ability to create a perfect full Winsor knot. Of course, while trying that I was just destroying his ties... but again he taught me that a tie on me would be the reflection of my emotions, because it's in front of my heart! Today, I was to a customer's premises, and suddenly a person came by to let an invoice to be paid. He was a typical accountant! Thin and tight knot! Let's see some examples

Mostly what I do, is make without a mirror my knot, in order to check my emotional status before an upcoming meeting. In times that it's not successful, I revise my plan and strategy. It means that deep inside, there is something that holds me of being confident. So, I change it! By deciding to change it! And of course, always the full Winsor (loose) knot...
Nice sunny day in Brussels yesterday. It sounds like a miracle... I know... but we had Sun! So, with this friend of mine we were discussing about sales (of course). We both realized that everybody discusses about economic crisis, about not enough cash-flow in the market and so on, but we still doing business. Well, I still don't consider myself a salesman but I believe in four main principles:
Body
Soul (or else Heart)
Mind
Spirit
What this has to do with sales? Well, let's interpreter them:
Body is the need. Needs must be covered. Specially in IT there are a lot of needs, and by providing qualitative solutions and services, customers will call you.
Soul / Heartis the feeling. If your customer and you feel nice when you meet and specially if your customer trusts you, then it's a win-win situation
Mindis rational thinking. It's the one that will produce solutions to the problems.
Spiritis the new idea. A new idea is always appreciated and will lead you to better paths if only it is combined with the first three pillars.
You may think immediately that "oh, yes I do all these things"... Check again your client lists. With who can you have a coffee Sunday morning?
