website... website...
positioning matters

It's true that the last couple of years the quality of websites improved radically.

There are three main reasons for that:

  • companies realized that market will not accept them if they will not have a strong presence on web
  • companies understood that investment on their image is important and in extend a 24h/365d running shop, should prove their qualities
  • market is not regional or national, but international, therefore opportunities arise each second from all over the world (this is why WWW starts with World)!

Today, through Google (apologies for the rest of search engines, but googling is a verb nowdays...) customers or interested persons on your thoughts will reach your product or content in maximum two days!

Of course, there are many companies that do not still invest a lot on Internet. Those will not survive if they will not adapt to the accelerating evolution rhythm, since e-business makes more sense than business.

Tips:
0. prove and invest in your quality
1. have a nice design and content presentations with no lengthy paragraphs
2. use keywords everywhere! in all images! everywhere!
3. be attentive on your content and language. details matter!
4. advertise your website
5. if you spam, offer a possibility to unsubscribe
6. provide free instruction and demo on your products
7. use clear contact details and a mission statement
8. respect privacy
9. update constantly your content

Apogee is proud to announce the completion of a minisite for the Art of Dreaming seminars, a series of business seminars that bring insights and reduce obstacles to success. The site provides information and a registration mechanism for the seminars.

The Art of Dreaming

Technically, we used Apogee Essence for the CMS, providing easy management of the site content to the client. Also, an additional module was developed for the registration process. Finally, the main content module was modified so that each seminar (and it's sub-pages) can have it's own (administrated by the client) header and color styling.

The next seminar is set for May 22 in Milan, Italy, titled "Timeless Leadership".

Stop playing with your browser child!

Apple wowed the (tech) world recently by making the new Safari 4 scoring a 100/100 on the demanding Acid3 test, something never done before (try with it different browsers for some fun results). Google still cant make it, so they are claiming that javascript running on Google Chrome might not be 100% standard, but at least it's fun.

Chrome Experiments is a new site by Google because... "We think JavaScript is awesome. We also think browsers are awesome. Indeed, when we talk about them, we say they are the cat's meow – which is an American expression meaning AWESOME. In light of these deeply held beliefs, we created this site to showcase cool experiments for both JavaScript and web browsers."

Of course these tests can run on almost any browser (I doubt for IE6), but with varying results on speed (or actually working). Try them out and let us know how it goes!

Thank god, we've got guns!
Thank god, we've got guns!

The last few days web site owners running Google Adsense ads have started receiving an announcement from Google on a new service called "Interest-Based Advertising".

Interest-based advertising will allow advertisers to show ads based on a user's previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser website and also to reach users based on their interests (e.g. "sports enthusiast"). To develop interest categories, we will recognize the types of web pages users visit throughout the Google content network. As an example, if they visit a number of sports pages, we will add them to the "sports enthusiast" interest category.

The fun part is that since this works with cookies and the code used for ads is appearing on sites outside Google, these sites now have to update their privacy policies to warn people about the tracking. While site owners can opt-out of the mechanism that will be in effect in the coming weeks, they are warned that they are going to get less ads from Google (and that's a warning not a threat ;))

Site visitors can also opt-out from the service in two ways: either setting another cookie or downloading a plugin. One can imagine some people will not be happy with either option.

Behavioral-based advertising is not new though. Similar techniques have been used by other advertising networks for several years now (and without opt-out mechanisms). But in the end, what do you really have to hide? ;)

paradise vs. hell
What do you finally create? Paradise or Hell?

Painting title: "I Dream of Freedom - the Devil's Final Hour"

In reality, we are the creators of all our life events. Deep inside us, we know this and accept it. We know that there is no help coming from outside or above or wherever else than... inside of us. If we are not responsible enough to realize that we are the creators of our life events, our Paradise or Hell that we live in, we will never get this "help" we are craving for.

Some years ago, while I was at a friend's house (he is about 80) he made me read a page from a sacred book where it was declare that God is only inside of us!

The ancient Greeks said that it is not enough to ask for God's assistance but we also need to act. Why? Just because God is a part of us...

Then this Sufi poem comes to my mind: "They dance... they spin... and they make the world spinning arround them". Therefore... as the gods or Gods we are, we create our lives.

Even Jesus Christ said that we are potential Gods... Why? He said something we do not ever want to understand... we are of the same material as God... we just don't want to understand and allow ourselves to live something more than the common human life...

Finally, there is nothing more to accept than the Dreamer's phrase "The world is such because... you are such!" in order to understand that the sole ruler of life... is us individualy. We are creating our own Paradise or our own Hell. The decision is only ours.
